Driving
Driving is a separate alternative to the rail itinerary. If you drive, use City parking only after checking the listed lot hours, payment rules, and posted signs.

A day, in order
Grand Central Terminal
Confirm train 813 in TrainTime, compare the live weekday Day Pass with two peak one-way tickets, and activate a mobile ticket before boarding.
Connection: Metro-North Hudson Line to Poughkeepsie.
Poughkeepsie Station
Find the return platform information first. Check the weather and decide between the Walkway plan and the museum plan before leaving the station area.
Connection: Plan A goes toward Washington Street Stairs; Plan B crosses to the museum at 75 North Water Street.
Washington Street Stairs
Use this 0.7-mile connection only if stairs and the weather are suitable. The closed waterfront elevator is not a substitute for this route.
Connection: Continue to the Poughkeepsie-side Walkway approach.
Walkway East approach
Enter only after confirming that the park is open. If weather changes or access is unsuitable, turn back and switch to Plan B rather than forcing the bridge.
Connection: Start the bridge from the Poughkeepsie entrance.
Walkway Over the Hudson out-and-back
Walk out and back at a pace that leaves time for food and the station return. Regular-hours access is free, but severe weather can close the park.
Connection: Return by the same Poughkeepsie-side route toward the station.
Poughkeepsie Station return
Leave the bridge area early, recheck the return, and board train 878 at 16:51 for the scheduled 18:45 Grand Central arrival.
Connection: Metro-North Hudson Line to Grand Central.
